I never intended on making this blog post, but considering I haven't been active in WAY too long and you guys deserved something happy in these crazy times, I thought I'd share a recipe with you from Food.com that made quarantine more bearable than it should have been. I realize EVERYONE has been making some version of this item in quarantine, but when you have old, black bananas just hanging out on the top of your fridge, what else are you gonna make? Besides, I needed something else to do besides stuff my face with junk food while binge-watching Netflix . . .
Anyway, if your taste buds haven't started acting up yet, they will soon!
THE MOST SCRUMDIDDLYUMPTIOUS BANANA BREAD

I am no stranger to the world of banana bread. It's the one thing that I could just bake over and over and over again and never get tired of. I stuck with my trusty recipe from Food.com (you can find the original recipe here) but gave it a fun little twist because what else are you gonna do when you're cooped up in the house? I included the "bonus ingredients" that I used because quite honestly, they tied the entire bread together. It was, quite literally, the best banana bread I had ever made . . .
So, without further ado, I give you the most exquisite banana bread recipe you ever did see.
You Will Need . . .
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
3 bananas, finely crushed (4 if you want a really moist and scrumptious bread like mine)
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
Bonus Ingredients . . .
Brown sugar (enough to sprinkle across the top)
Walnuts (I used walnuts, but I imagine any nuts would work?)
Directions . . .
Gather a medium-sized bowl, a smaller bowl for mashing your bananas, and a loaf pan
Preheat your oven to 350º Fahrenheit
Cream together your butter and sugar in your medium-sized bowl
Mash your bananas in the smaller bowl
Add mashed bananas and eggs to your creamed mixture. Combine well
Sift together your flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Add vanilla
Mix until just combined, making sure to not overmix
Grease and flour your loaf pan
Pour mixture into loaf pan
Sprinkle brown sugar (enough to coat the surface) and walnuts (I wouldn't go too crazy. You don't want to risk the middle sinking in because of the weight. Trust me . . . I had a little bit of a scare when I was making mine) across the top
Bake at 350º Fahrenheit for 55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean
Enjoy!

I absolutely LOVED adding my own little twist to this recipe. For one, using four bananas makes a HUGE difference if you want your bread to be more moist and banana-y. But the brown sugar and walnuts on top adds that extra little flare that everyone is SURE to love. I'll definitely be using this recipe every time I make banana bread now XD.
As always, thanks for reading and make sure to leave me a comment below if you decide to try this recipe. I highly recommend trying it out and bookmarking this recipe for future baking because it gives me a perfect banana bread every time. And that's all I've got to say about it!
Until next time :)
