DECORATING FOR THE HOLIDAYS

There's nothing that I love more than decorating for Christmas. And this year, I decided to share my favorite pieces and some of their significances with you. Let's begin, shall we?

Decorations...

I typically put up all of the decorations around the house before actually putting up the Christmas tree. I'm not too sure why, but it's super fun either way. My absolute FAVORITE decoration that we put up every year is a dancing snowman that we've had since I was about two years old. The lights in the snowflakes have gone out, but we can't bear to part with something that has been in my life for so long. Besides, he sings "Snow Miser" from the film The Year Without a Santa Claus, which is one of the greatest Christmas movies of ALL TIME.

My second favorite piece is a framed photo of me, my dad, and my older sister from 2003. This photo means a lot to me because 1) I was freakin' adorable! and 2) It was taken during a difficult time of my life when I was with the one person who truly made me feel safe: my dad. (That and I just love my dad's hair, sooooo)

This nativity scene has been in my family for as long as I can remember, and I absolutely LOVE it. I remember playing with the little figurines when I was younger because I thought they were so fascinating. Although, as a child, I didn't realize the importance of it. But now, as a soon-to-be eighteen year old, I know that the nativity scene is one of the most important aspects of Christmas, which is why this piece will forever be one of my favorites.

My fourth and final favorite decoration is a sock snowman that I made when I was little. If I remember correctly, I made this little cutie during my time in daycare, and I just love it because of how cute and innocent it is. I mean COME ON, it's a snowman made from a SOCK. What's more innocent than that?

Christmas Tree...

My favorite ornament on our tree is a sour dough ornament with our dog's paw print on it. It was extremely difficult to make (seeing as most dogs don't like their feet being stuck into squishy dough) but it's super cute. Also, I don't think his one paw pad made an imprint in it, so it looks like he only has three toes. But I promise he has four.

My second favorite ornament on our tree is a cute homemade snowman ornament that was given to us by my amazing grandmother. We received it two years ago as a Christmas present and we've had it on our tree every year since. I absolutely love it because it's so cute and authentic and it's just the most Christmassy thing I've ever seen.

My third and final favorite ornament on our tree is a red jingle bell. Seeing as one of my favorite Christmas movies is The Polar Express, it makes me think of the whole idea of the power of believing. The main character in the film is told that he'll be seen as a fool for believing in Santa Claus, but by the end, he's taught that it doesn't matter what he believes in, just as long as it makes him happy. I love this SO much, thus the reason why I cherish this ornament so much.

And that's all for my favorite Christmas decorations! I hope you enjoyed this post, and if you did, make sure to leave me a comment below letting me know what you thought. Better yet, let me know what some of YOUR favorite Christmas decorations are/what their importances are. I'd love to know!

Thanks for reading! Until next time :)
